Hello, I’m Stuart.

I am a storyteller who is turning my passion into a career as a scriptwriter and narrative designer. You may know me from my LinkedIn profile or a job application I’ve sent you.

I’ve been writing since I was twelve years old. I’ve written short stories, novels, TV scripts, video game dialogue, text-based games, and research papers. I’ve written in almost every format except for musicals (not that I’m not willing to try).

I have a massive imagination that never stops running. I’m always dreaming up new worlds, characters, plots, and stories. It gives me plenty of inspiration for my many personal and professional projects. I just wish it would stop inspiring me at four in the morning.

Before studying screenwriting and narrative design at George Brown College, I got a bachelor’s in criminology at York University. I had intended to join the RCMP, however, (for reasons that don’t need exploring at this juncture), I decided to change career paths. Criminology and its relation to sociology and modern society have influenced my writing, and with my passion for history, I have developed better societal structures and cultures when world-building.

I’m an avid gamer. I like playing RTSs, RPGs, and PvP games with friends —pretty much any game with a good story or exciting world. I especially like stories with branching narratives or a lot of player agency. I’m on a mission to play my way through all the great story games. Unfortunately, developers keep making more of them, so the list is constantly growing.

I’ve spent many years working in jobs that have required tight-knit teamwork, communication, and independent creative problem-solving. Through my studies at George Brown and my work on Carpe Dino (a game recently released by Black Squirrel Studios), I have also had experience working on creative projects with teams of various sizes and collaboratively in a mock writers’ room.

Well, that’s enough about me, please enjoy my writing samples.
